The Builders Association Awards Gala is always a highlight for our local building community — including our own team. The Builders Association of the Blue Ridge Mountains (BABRM) held its annual awards gala October 17, celebrating the builders, designers, and craftspeople shaping the future of homebuilding in the mountains.
Scroggs Construction Services earned six awards for excellence in remodeling and management at the gala: a Parade of Homes Silver Award and five WNC STARS Awards.
“These honors reflect the dedication and care our team brings to every project,” says Matt Scroggs, co-owner of Scroggs Construction Services. “I couldn’t be prouder of how our people showed up for one another, our clients, and our community this year, especially in the wake of Hurricane Helene.”
WNC STARS Award, Sales Team of the Year
After Helene, our sales team coordinated hundreds of damage assessments, fielded urgent calls from displaced homeowners, and helped families navigate complex insurance and rebuild processes. Their responsiveness and professionalism set a new standard for service during crisis recovery.
WNC STARS Award, Construction Manager of the Year: Bobby Massie
As Director of Construction, Bobby helped launch our Restoration Division, trained new team members, and managed more than 40 active restoration projects. His tireless work ethic and commitment to both his team and the wider community embody Scroggs Construction’s core values.
WNC STARS Award, Best Whole House Remodel Under $250,000: Restoring Home, Restoring Hope
When a large tree crashed through an Asheville roof, displacing an elderly couple and their disabled son, our team rebuilt the damaged structure and restored what could be saved. The project balanced compassion and craftsmanship, adding accessibility upgrades while preserving original character.
Parade of Homes Silver Craftsmanship Award: Helene Revival House
In Fairview, one home devastated by Hurricane Helene was given a second life. Using the original foundation and blueprints as a starting point, our team rebuilt from the ground up, blending modern comfort with timeless farmhouse character for a home that feels both fresh and familiar.
WNC STARS Award, Best Addition: The Phoenix Addition
After a chimney fire spread through a family’s home in Asheville, our team was called to help rebuild. What began as a restoration evolved into an 824-square-foot third-story addition complete with a bedroom, bath, office, and bonus room. The result is a seamless blend of old and new that perfectly fits the family’s everyday life.
WNC STARS Award, Best Home Exterior Transformation: Legacy Exterior Transformation
When a beloved husband and architect passed away mid-construction, his family was left with a half-finished dream in Asheville. Our team stepped in to honor his vision, reworking the complex design into a plan that was both beautiful and attainable. We corrected structural flaws, stabilized the foundation, and unified the exterior with new siding and gables.
Build with an Award-Winning Team
We’re proud to be recognized for our commitment to craftsmanship. However, the real reward is seeing our clients happy in the homes we’ve built together.
“Awards are meaningful because they reflect the pride our team takes in every detail,” says Matt. “But at the end of the day, it’s our clients’ satisfaction that matters most.”
