What once was a drag on the property values of the surrounding homes is now a shining example of the restorative nature of home remodeling.  Inside and out, this home was given new life and a rebranded “foundation” in a community that will support it for another 100 years. The major constraints we faced were an existing small and dysfunctional floor plan featuring a less than 100 sqft kitchen space, a haphazardly cut in central staircase leading to an undesirable mud crawl space/laundry area, seriously degraded structural and superficial components throughout including an inoperable fireplace creating sags in the roof, ceiling, walls, and floor systems, a dangerously constructed addition that eventually had to be torn off and rebuilt to match the existing structure, lead paint and asbestos and a compact downtown Asheville location to build within. The end result, a complete gut of all the interior systems, redesign/reframing of most all interior walls, new floor and ceiling systems/coverings, newly rebuilt decks and a bright new floorplan featuring an open concept kitchen/dining/living area all while preserving the exterior façade of this 100-year old urban beauty.
