This complete interior and exterior remodel in Swannanoa redefines transformation. Originally built in 1934, the 1,476-square-foot home had become a patchwork of homeowner-built additions over the decades. Scroggs Construction gutted it to the studs and rebuilt it from the ground up, turning a fragmented structure into a cohesive, contemporary residence.

Design Reimagined

As part of the redesign, the team removed an old, failing solarium to make way for a new primary suite addition featuring a spacious bathroom and walk-in closet. The roof framing was also restructured to create vaulted and coffered ceilings that add architectural interest and enhance the sense of space. By removing awkward additions and reconfiguring the floor plan, we created a functional, cohesive layout that flows naturally from one room to the next.

From Dilapidated to Distinctive

Every interior and exterior wall was reframed, insulation and sheathing were replaced, and all roof and floor systems were either modified or newly constructed to meet modern standards. Mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems were fully upgraded to exceed current building codes, creating a foundation for lasting safety and comfort.

Transformation Realized

New siding, roofing, and thoughtfully designed exterior additions brought balance and visual harmony to the home’s façade. Inside and out, every decision reflected careful planning and skilled craftsmanship. The result is a stunning, efficient home that honors the character of the original structure while meeting the needs of modern living.
